Presentation Board / Re: Hi I'm Allstar

I kind of miss my online friends. Had quite a few and I learned a lot with them and also was able to help them in some ways. I'm not that active now, even on social networks...  Photography is still a big hobby for me but I now shot mainly with my DSLR and I post my favorite shots on my Facebook page (Jonas Photography) and on instagram.

If you have any app/software to see, let me know!   :Thumbs

Life got complicated, I had moved from Lisbon to Azores but I had to move back to Lisbon, changed job meanwhile and time just got short. Adding to this, I and the site got banned from Adsense and with no ad revenue (what I achieved barely covered the costs), this site would be just money consumption to me....

Ouch, that's not good at all :(

What about you? What have you been doing? Still involved with sites and forums?  :)

Not doing much, use Android now (yep  I turned :P ), nearly 2 years working for a Sports retailer.

Sites wise, absolutely nothing, I shut SD and all our websites down and only keep Allstar Software running for the update server.
And only have one project atm, a Windows Program called Picture Roll

What happened?
The place was beaming with life the last time I was here

Yes, it's still up but it is with minimum management... I don't spend any time here anymore for lack of personal time. Still it's a free space for everyone who wants to share their photos, post opinions or ask questions.  :)  This until the domain and hosting server ends up as I won't probably renew it anymore.

Being the first day at the great community and I am guided well at this great post. Call it a coincidence or luck but this a kind of mindshaper for the beginners in the world of the photography, like me (The first to be named).

While browsing the gallery I got to know I need to learn a lot from seniors.

Great Post for learners.

Wow, I nearly forgot about this forum, nice to see it still running. :)

An excellent article.I particularly like the point about technique and instinct.Yes,as a musician and car modder/engine builder (which is as much art as it is engineering) I've always been a huge advocate of instict and an intuitive approach to creating anything. In fact, jump in at the deep end, sink or swim has been very much my approach to life in general, one which I have always preferred but perhaps wouldn't advise to everybody unless you're supremely talented, confident or unwise lol.

All that being said I can jam with others on guitar or build cars because of a thorough grounding in both subjects so fully agree that a sound understanding of the basics of photography are a true attribute for both the amatuer learning the craft (like myself) or the truly gifted and naturally talented to be able to then riff off the basics intuitively.

Great post :)

A forum about the music still exists either.
