A new technique I've been experimenting and that I wanted to share. How to achieve >3 or 4sec long exposure?
It' simple and you should be able to do this with any smartphone.
1. Use a tripod,
2. Shoot a time-lapse. Usual advices on how to shoot a time-lapse should be followed to avoid focus hunt, etc.
3. I've used 20 shots, interval 5 sec, ISO set to 100 for the examples given in this tutorial
Back at home, use StarStax (http://www.markus-enzweiler.de/software/software.html
), available on Windows, OSX and Linux. It's a software meant to stack pictures and make star trails but hey, who said it's limited to that?
Load all your pictures and play with the different stacking options. Usually, "Average" will give stunning results.
As it's an average, it's not exactly a >1min exposure, but you get a very close effect.
