Our 3rd interview is of someone that has become famous for his New York photos, specially his long exposures and Black&White ones. So, here's Netstatinfo interview:

    1. Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Johnny W. Lam a.k.a Lamchop, I am currently 35 yrs. Old and I reside in New York City where I have spent the last 30+ years there and love every moment of it, I am also an IT Professional who specialize in server and client side machines, I enjoy activities such as basketball, electronics, music, arts and of course photography.  When Iím not behind the computer screen, I am usually out and about doing photography or training people about photography.

    2. What was your journey to mobile photography?

I was always intrigued by the arts and found myself drawing and sketching at an early age, but I was also the same kid who loved to take apart his electronic toys and examine the parts and put it back together.  It wasn't until I was about 17-18 years old that I first played with a camera and instantly fell in love with it.  In college, during my sophomore year I took a photography course and learn the components of a camera and learned how to develop film.  I bought my first used digital camera in 2002, after I graduated college and found myself not going out and shooting, due to the fact that I was more focused on my career, then through out the years I left it and did not return back into photography until 2008-2009 and a lot has changed, I had to re-learn everything again.  Once again I bought a used camera (Nikon D70 with kit lens) and only then I had some time to myself to go out and explore and shoot a little bit.  I was such a novice, I had no clue to what I was doing and my shots came out terrible!  So it was a learning curve, then in 2011 I was more serious about photography and finally bought myself a better DSLR (Nikon D7000 with a 18-200mm lens), I was still learning, but something happened! I found myself looking at things differently and sorted out my own style and technique.  At this time I was obsessed, I was attending all types of seminars, workshops and was networking with tons of people.  Then in 2013 I bought the Nokia Lumia 920 and my life changed forever, I mean mobile photography was/is a hot trend and the technology was pretty much there, I was never into the iPhone or any kind of iphonegraphy, cause it was just not my thing.  One day after helping a friend out and driving in his car, I dropped my Lumia 920 while getting out of the car and the screen shattered, I almost cried!!  I remembered clearly, I just stood still and looked at it, no words, just a still silent face and stand.  Around that time the Nokia Lumia 1020 came out and I was doing my research and was waiting for more reviews, it just happen to be so that it got great reviews and I was very excited about the features and upcoming apps and tech that was going to be baked into the phone.  So I made the choice and upgraded my phone.  Once doing so and learning how to use the camera, I was set, mobile photography would never be the same again for me, to think that this thing can shoot DNG files and have them processed like any RAW file from a DSLR was the major selling point for me, then all the other features that come along with the camera app is just killer.  Now wherever I go I have my Lumia 1020 and camera grip, it's a must and a joy to have that type of power in your phone.

    3. What phone(s) do you use to take your photographs?

Nokia Lumia 920, loved it from the start and used it extensively to take pics and got published @ Nokia Conversations, the camera tech was just right at the moment for me and never looked back.  Nokia Lumia 1020, bought in Nov. 2013 and once again published @ Nokia Conversations, only this time I was 100% serious about mobile photography.

    4. What is your favorite kind of photography? What you consider to be your specialties?

    Landscapes, HDR, plus post production.

    5. Do you use any mobile photography accessories?

I use a Manfrotto Tripod or the Manfrotto Pixi tabletop tripod, plus the Nokia Lumia 1020 camera grip.

    6. Do you take advantage of the many photography apps that are available for smartphones? If so, tell us your favorite ones.

Besides Adobe Lightroom for the desktop, I use 6tag for Instagram, Nokia Creative Studio, or Fotor for editing on the go and TinyPlanet for those wonderful planet shape photos.

    7. What are your ambitions as a mobile photographer?

My outlook as a mobile photographer is that if I can make a business out of it why not?, plus the Nokia Lumia 1020 gives me the ability to print at very large sizes, edit like a professional using the DNG file and output high quality photos.

    8. What would be your dream camera phone?

Full frame sensor, Panorama App, like the iphone (Have to admit the pano app on the iphone is awesome. interchangeable lenses, everything else already exist on my phone.

    9. Select what you consider to be the best 3 photos that you have shared at The Mobile Photography Blog

    1. Metro

    2. Settle

    3. Evening Drift

Thank you for taking your time for this interview. It's a pleasure to know a bit more about yourself and I'm looking forward to continue to enjoy your photography!

It's really interesting that you actually train people on photography. Would be really interesting if you could put in writing some of those lessons here for every member and visitor to read. Many people comes here, from all over the world, to learn a bit more about mobile photography.  :)
